Constructed in 1955, the original Gonzales Fire Station was with two drive-through bays and a relatively simple design. Over the years, the station has been through several changes and modifications. A new day room and three more bays were added several years ago, and after the latest modifications the station has a new look, and it almost feels like new. Just recently, in the summer of 2009, a fence was added, along with an electrical update to the front office to reorganize it as the Radio Room and Captain's Office.
